In this issue of the Journal, San Miguel et al.1 describe the benefit of combining bortezomib with melphalan plus prednisone, as compared with melphalan plus prednisone alone, as initial therapy for patients with myeloma who are not candidates for hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation.
